Konstantin Andreyevich Somov (1869–1939) was a Russian painter, illustrator, and graphic artist associated with the Symbolist movement and the influential Mir iskusstva (World of Art) group. Deeply inspired by the elegance of the Rococo and the romantic sensibility of 18th-century art, Somov developed a style distinguished by refined draftsmanship, luminous color, and a strong sense of theatricality. His works often combined portraiture, landscape, and genre scenes with a nostalgic yet sophisticated approach, sometimes infused with subtle eroticism.
