John Maler Collier (January 27, 1850 – April 11, 1934) was a British painter and writer, recognized as one of the most accomplished portraitists of the late Victorian and Edwardian periods. Associated with the Pre-Raphaelite movement, Collier produced an extensive body of work that encompassed not only portraits of leading public figures—including Charles Darwin, King George V, and Rudyard Kipling—but also historical, literary, and mythological compositions
