Jacques-Louis David

 

Jacques-Louis David (1748–1825) was the leading painter of the French Neoclassical movement and one of the most influential artists of his era. Trained at the Royal Academy and refined in Rome after winning the Prix de Rome, David rejected the Rococo style in favor of moral seriousness and classical clarity.
